Common Problems Identified In a Home Survey

It is an unsaid thing, and needless to say, the survey is meant to find problems in any house, whether you are getting RICS Home Survey Level 2 or Level 3. These surveys mention everything that is not okay with a property.

But did you know that some problems are found in most houses? Some common issues are inspected and presented everywhere. You must be wondering about what these problems are, so we will dig into them now and find out.

Boundary Problems:

One of the most common issues is boundary limitation. People do not know their boundary lines, and they often cross them, which eventually turns into a dispute. This either happens because the surveyors do not properly guide the people or because they are just careless.

When surveyors go for surveys, it is often seen that the boundary lines are wrongly marked. And it does not happen in just one or two places, but almost everywhere.

Damps:

Another common problem found by Building Surveyors London in old properties is dampness. Damp is dangerous and can cause structural damage. Not only that, but it also has terrible impacts on our health and can cause some severe respiratory issues. This is like a safe haven for all kinds of bacteria so it is hazardous in all different ways.

The major cause of damping is water. Wherever there is water leakage or water accumulation that goes up to the walls, there will surely be damping.

Electrical Issues:

Electrical issues are also among the most common in RICS Home Survey Level 2. When you move to an old property, you have to expect electrical problems. The wiring is mostly old and damaged, so you cannot really avoid these things.

A common person does not necessarily notice these things, but a surveyor can always judge. With that, it is better to get a proper report on all the electrical system just to be safe.

Heating Inefficiency:

One problem that you might not even expect but is also frequently observed is in the heating system. The problem with old properties is that their heating systems are as old as them. It is not that they do not work; they absolutely do, but they are not as efficient, and they do not fulfill their needs.

The seller will not tell you this, but you have to ask them to at least switch it on once before you get the house. This will give you an idea of how effective they are.

Asbestos:

The sad news is that before asbestos was banned, many buildings already had it. Now, if you are planning to shift to an old property, chances are you will find asbestos. So, what to do with it? Well, it depends upon where it is present. If the area that consists of asbestos cannot be done anything to, you should not get that place.

Asbestos is an extremely dangerous product that can cause different health hazards as serious as cancer. So, it is better if you get the assessment by a surveyor before you shift.

Conclusive Remarks:

When people get RICS Home Survey Level 2 it is because they want to be at a place that is safe for them. When the surveyors hold surveys these common problems are found almost everywhere. But, the benefit is that with surveys you are aware of these issues and are not living a blind life.

It is essential to get surveys because, in the long run, they actually save you from many problems. In some cases, they also save your life by pin pointing the health hazards the houses may come with. If you want to get a survey done you can contact Surveying People
